5/12/2022 Meeting Minutes

  • 21 Members attended this month’s meeting, held at Colony Rec Center.
  • ML McEwen was recognized for completing her goal to run a half marathon in 50 states, this past weekend at the Indy Mini in Indianapolis.  This race was also her 98th half marathon.  ML started this journey in 1988 when she completed her first half marathon in Bar Harbor Maine.  She plans to complete her 100th half marathon in September by running the same race she began with in Bar Harbor.
  • Terri presented her plans for a Golf Cart Relay Race to be held on Sunday June 12 at 6:30 AM
    • Start and finish at Terri’s house 817 Millhorn Loop
    • Teams of 3, randomly selected
    • Runners will be split into A, B, and C categories, based on recent 5K times
    • Each team will share a golf cart (decorate as a team if you like)
    • 20 mile route, Terri is planning the route from her house to Brownwood, south to Meggison Road and back across Moyer Loop to her house.  Maps will be provided.
    • A runner will run 9 miles total
    • B runner will run 7 miles total
    • C runner will run 4 miles total
    • Teams can break up distance any way they’d like, teams should have a handoff plan prior to the race day
    • First runner starts, then golf cart goes up to the next handoff spot
    • After last runner starts, cart should proceed to the finish to celebrate!
    • Bring own towels, water and nutrition, may be limited bathrooms and water available along route
    • Club members are encouraged to try to get lots of club members involved!  Please reach out to others to get them excited!
    • Party at Terris at the finish!! Swim, food, relax and share stories!!

    • June 12 Golf Cart Relay
    • July 4 Clermont Freedom 5K
    • November 11-13 St Petes Run Fest in St Petersburg FL
    • June 18 Burn your Half Off, in Ocala.  Half Marathon, 10K, or 5K distances.
  • Skirt Sport Pop Up on Thursday May 19, hosted by Lisa and ML at Lisa’s house 448 Kilmer Way 5PM.  All are welcome to this unique event.
  • Special Olympics Wed 6/8 in Orlando, people should carpool.  Volunteers are still needed!
  • Night Golf October, maybe close to Halloween
  • This is the last meeting for the summer season.  The next meeting will be Thursday September 8 at 4:30 PM
