10/13/2022 Meeting Minutes
- 20 Members attended this month’s meeting, held at Colony Rec Center.
- Trish welcomed the club to the meeting and introduced new member Tom Patchett.
- IMPORTANT note – Due to some conflicts our November meeting will be held on November 17!!
- Another IMPORTANT note – TVRC will be moving our normal start time to 7 AM beginning October 30!
- Mark Rossini gave a financial update. We currently have a balance of $2192 in our account.
- Elections will be held at the November meeting. John Campbell gave a quick summary of the positions and candidates for each.
- President – John Valasco will move from vice president into the role of president, as was done in the past elections.
- Secretary – Mary Lou Marcotte will be a candidate for re-election. Other candidates are welcome if interested.
- Treasurer – Mark Rossini will be a candidate for re-election. Other candidates are welcome if interested.
- Vice President – new candidates are sought. Currently Dianne Schultz is interested in this role. If others are interested please come forward to one of the board members.
- Upcoming Runs
- Running of the Squares – Brownwood
- October 22 at 8AM
- TVRC team is set up, please come join us!
- New medal series this year! Each of the 3 ‘Squares’ races will feature a medal that fits together with the others to make a larger medal!!
- Our new Fleet Feet store will be supporting this race with on-course volunteers and bananas at the finish line. If you are interested in volunteering please let Matt or Michelle know that you can help!
- St Pete Runfest – St Petersburg FL
- November 12-1310K and 5K on Saturday, Half Marathon on Sunday
- TVRC Team is set up, please come join us!! We need to get 4 more TVRC members in order for our team to qualify for special VIP perks!
- Thanksgiving
- We discussed whether people were interested in joining an official ‘turkey trot’ as a team, and most people decided that it would be fun to run from The Villages that morning instead. Michelle suggested the idea of having a ‘Pie for Breakfast’ fun run from the new Fleet Feet location. More to come on this….

- Night Golf – October 27, 6 PM at Saddlebrook Executive Golf Course
- Mary Lou gave an update on this event. We still have 8 more openings for people to play. Teams will be determined once we have the 36 spots filled.
- No cost to play
- Each person must provide their own Glow Balls, available on Amazon or at Glen View or Belle Glade Country Clubs.
- Golf Cart Relay – November 20
- Please contact Terri Bower if you are interested in joining this fun event.
- Relay is planned to begin at the Fleet Feet location.
- Night Golf – October 27, 6 PM at Saddlebrook Executive Golf Course
- Holiday Party – SAVE THE DATE December 8

- Holiday Charity Drive – Steve and Carol Wolf will be collecting books and pajamas in support of the 2022 Girl Scout Alumnae effort within The Villages. This is our third year supporting this effort. Last year over 6,000 local children were classified as homeless and received new PJs and Books as a result of this drive.
- Steve and Carol will collect on Thursdays and Sundays beginning November 10, through Thanksgiving.
- Please bring new pajamas and books for children ages birth to 15.
- Fleet Feet Update
- Michelle Mang gave an update regarding the new Fleet Feet store. At this time, the permit to begin construction is still pending but once it approved the work should be done in 6 weeks.
- The website is up! www.fleetfeetthevillages.com
- Home Runs – we are planning on continuing our monthly ‘Home Runs’ and are looking for people that are interested in hosting.
- Mark and Jan Rossini would like to host an evening Home Run on Halloween night, October 31. More details to come!!
- Dianne Schultz will host in January, TBD
- Apparel – Dianne Shultz
- Our Holiday Shirt (Terri Bower) design will be available for 2022 ordering. Shirts can be ordered in Long Sleeve, Short Sleeve, or Tank.
- The next TVRC apparel sales window will open in January 2023.
- We are trying to arrange to have a self defense topic presented at our November club meeting (November 17). More info to come!
- We have an author within our Club! Mark Bartolomeo (aka Mark Bar) has just published Giovanni’s Last Shoe, a historical work about his family’s journey from Italy in 1696 to America. The book is now available on Amazon.
- Last topic was Runner Safety. We are continuing to have instances of running 2 or 3 across in high traffic areas. When traffic is approaching we must go single file. It is dark now during the start of our runs, so please wear your lights!
